all at sea by Marianne Huhn
Medium: Porcelain Paper clay with coloured underglazes and black oxide sgraffito
Dimensions: 10 (H) x 6 (W) cm (variable)
This piece was made during lockdown in Melbourne. I had time on my hands to experiment with hand-building. The surface narrative reflects a tale of land and sea. As Australians, we are surrounded by the ocean but on land, especially during lockdown, we were defined by the walls of our homes. On some days, it felt isolating but it also felt more connected, to the environment around us, to the rhythms of the sea.
