Artwork statement:
The use of recycled and found materials are foundational to the sustainability ethics of my art practice. I have used recycled reflective insulation and found limestone rock to create these sculptures. They are part of a series, The Secret Life Of Rocks.
My interest in making this work began upon finding fossil fragments littered amongst limestone rocks on daily walks. The beautiful layering of colours and textures from remnant materials in the rocks, also sparked my curiosity. I was drawn into the mysterious world of sedimentary rocks and the secrets they contain. In these works, I explore ideas around what these secrets might be.
