Sterling Silver, Stainless Steel pin
1.2mm thickness plus brooch back
A few words from the maker
This brooch has been hand crafted from sterling silver, with a hand made brooch back and a stainless steel pin. The praying mantis is hands down my favourite of all of the insects. I find their beauty, elegance and fierceness fascinating. They are often viewed as a symbol of patience.
ABOUT THE MAKER, ROHANA HOLIDAY
Rohana is a contemporary jeweller and object maker based in Geelong, Australia. She enjoys all the hidden secrets our Earth has to offer: An insect. The impossible beauty of native orchids. An interesting twig. A spider web sparkling with dew. The tiniest toadstool. Finding lost treasures. The golden hour just before dusk. These are just a few of the wonders that fill her mind when she is crafting delicate, one of a kind, pieces of jewellery. Each piece is an evolution of the last, a never ending chain. Rohana’s work focuses on form, texture and imagery. She enjoys looking into the symbolism of the creatures and plants she uses for inspiration, as well as using objects she finds on her adventures in nature. Her work often includes a subtle sense of humour and an enjoyment of the unexpected.
