Artist Statement:
I love the original self-portrait of Frida Kahlo and I thought I would recreate it in my style. It intrigues me that on the surface it is a pleasant painting but when you look at it more deeply there is a gruesome element to the work. I admire her as an artist and a woman who lived how she wanted to.
