‘It’s Still Life’ invokes what I’ve always called, “the Margaret Olley in me”.
The love of the everyday items I have in little displays around me.
This piece was inspired by those things, my plants, crockery and textiles.
It was informed by the background papers which reminded me of ‘William Morris’ and his love of the decorative.

In using just blue I was hoping to infuse the shapes of the flowers and plants into the subtleness of the papers as well as complimenting them.
I also enjoy using and experimenting with colour and using the different hues of blue was both challenging and exciting.
