measuring by Marianne Huhn
Medium: 2B pencil on watercolour paper
Dimensions: 25 x 25 cm
This tape measure once belonged to my Nana, Bernadette O'Keefe, who in the late 1950’s worked as a milliner under John Truscott, a costume and production designer. Nana made many hats for performances in theatres in and around Melbourne.
For me, this measuring tape represents the tactile nature of creating. This tool requires your hands and mind to work simultaneously to manufacture into reality the fantasies and narratives of plays and performances. My thanks go to my Nana for passing on to me the joy of working with your hands and creating a reality that is unique.
