The narrative told through the elements of earth are an ever revolving story of place, time and connection. Lake Natron of Africa and the cycle of its Flamingo demonstrate this perfectly. The intertwined textures of the deadly water, rising steam and volcanic rock create an otherworldly effect during the yearly cycle and tell the story of an ancient people, wildlife and foreboding environment. I have endeavoured to capture the yearly event of the Flamingo mating season through both colour and texture. Contrasting the feathery soft whispers left behind by the striking birds and the alkaline lake environment they migrate to.
