Rock Pool by Meg Shaw
Medium: Alcohol ink on yupo paper
Dimensions: 59 x 77 cm (framed and ready to hang)
Home for me means regular walks along the nearby beaches at Torquay, Anglesea and Airey’s Inlet. Rock pools have always fascinated me and I’m always drawn to them. In this alcohol ink on yupo paper, I tried to capture the moment when the sun hits the water, by running a streak of gold through the centre of the piece. Rocks, pebbles, bubbles and shadows make up the rest of the composition. The colours are mostly warm yellows, browns, oranges and black with highlights of aqua, blues and greens.
