Seanmhathair’s Pota by Meg Shaw
Medium: Mixed media
Dimensions: 43 x 36cm
‘Seanmhathair’s Pota’ (Celtic: Grandmother’s Pot) is inspired by my memories of my grandmother, Eileen (born in 1896). She was an avid gardener with a large yard full of fruit trees, ornamental plants and a large fernery. My lasting images of her are: wandering around her garden completely immersed in her created environment; or collecting plant cuttings, intent on growing more new plants in one of her many pots. When asked what I’d like as a keepsake from her belongings, I asked for her favourite ceramic planter which now sits on my mantle piece.
