ARTWORK STATEMENT:
The motifs featured in my Floweresque series evoke childhood memories of hand-embroidered doilies proudly displayed in their maker’s homes often in the ‘special’ room at festive occasions.
Through the use of disparate collected materials, I seek to reimagine and pay homage to those lost skills and traditional techniques by reinterpreting and adapting them in a contemporary way.
This series is my response to those enlivened memories.
