waste not, want not installation

A collaborative project presented by artist, Katherine Marmaras, as part of Craft Victoria’s Craft Contemporary Satellite Event program.

During lockdown, Katherine found herself mark-making on polystyrene and cardboard food packaging she had previously collected, thinking ‘I’ll use them for something one day’. She became lost in the process of decorating something that had been rendered useless and was about to become waste. With more grocery items home-delivered during lockdown, her project continues. Each mark made is like a stitch in time.

Katherine invited others to collaborate and create their own piece to form part of an installation for exhibition at Geelong Art Space.

Participant artists and makers include: Sharon Leeds, Deborah McHugh, Di Ellis, & Denise Keele-Bedford.

On display until 19th February 2021.
